Chocolate Roses

Fun and Flirty, a Heart Felt Winner

Nothing says ‘I Love You’ like a beautiful bouquet of roses. That is, unless it is a bouquet of long-stemmed roses made of chocolate! In the past few years, the chocolate rose bouquet has become quite popular, especially as a gift for Mother’s Day and Valentine’s Day.

Many chocolate roses are made in molds using either milk, dark, or white chocolate, while the stems are made from paper or silk. If you plan to give a chocolate rose bouquet, many chocolate makers allow you to choose the flavor you’d like, as well as the color of the foil in which each rose will be wrapped. After they are created, the bouquet is arranged in a flower box, often with extras such as baby’s breath, additional chocolates, and/or a card. You can even opt to have the bouquet arranged in a lovely vase. Bouquet sizes vary, and the chocolate roses are even available per piece.

The shapes of the roses may vary. Some manufacturers offer the chocolate roses shaped like a closed bud, while others may offer an open flower. Some even offer them without stems. You may be surprised to learn that isn’t all. Rose shaped boxes made of chocolate and filled with smaller chocolate roses are also available, as well as lollipops shaped like roses. As if that weren’t enough, you may even find that stores near you offer various other flower varieties in addition to the roses.

Should you choose to do so, you can easily make your own chocolate roses at home. All you’ll need is a rose mold, melted chocolate, foil wrappers, stems, clamps, and bows/ribbons. Just place the melted chocolate in the mold and insert the stem before the chocolate sets, using the clamp to hold the mold close if has more than one piece Once it has set, remove it from the mold, wrap it in foil, adorn it with the bows/ribbons, and you’re done!
