Caviar

A Royal Delicacy

Sometimes, when preparing a meal, the main course isn't the most important part of the menu. The side dishes are a wonderful touch to any gourmet meal. But, have you ever wondered just what extravagant items you can use to impress your guests?

Caviar is a food known for its extravagance and gourmet qualities. Anyone who hasn't been lucky enough to try the delicacy is truly missing out on a gourmet treat.

For those who are unfamiliar with caviar, it is the unsalted or salted roe, more commonly known as the eggs, from sturgeon or fish. Russian caviar is thought to be quite prestigious, although Iranian and American varieties are also very well-known among the lovers of gourmet treats.

The most well-known caviar comes the countries along the Black and Caspian seas and the rivers that flow into them. Russian, Azerbaijan and Iranian caviar come from the same place, the Caspian Sea. The American variety is similar to that of Russian sevruga, although, since it is not imported, it isn't quite as expensive.
